Reliable load solutions for safe and efficient testing.
Crosshitch provides flexible test-weight rental solutions for lifting equipment, load-bearing structures, weighing systems and proof-load applications. Our available range starts from 20 kg hand test weights and extends to individual blocks of up to 1 tonne, with multiple units combined to achieve larger test loads. For higher-capacity or access-restricted projects, Crosshitch can also support water bag load-testing requirements.
Test weights are required whenever equipment or a structure must be tested under a known load. Crosshitch offers practical rental options for short-duration tests, commissioning work, planned inspections, maintenance shutdowns and project-based testing.
The test load can be built in stages using hand weights, modular blocks or a combination of both. The most suitable arrangement depends on the required load, available headroom, lifting method, site access, floor or ground capacity and the approved test procedure.

Our hand weights are suitable for smaller load tests and for making precise final adjustments when larger blocks are being combined. Their compact design allows controlled placement, removal and staged loading.

Crosshitch supplies heavy-duty test blocks in practical sizes, including individual blocks of up to 1 tonne. Multiple blocks can be combined to achieve the required load for larger equipment and proof-load applications.
Common applications include
Compact weights for gradual loading, smaller equipment and fine adjustment of the total test load.
Individual blocks up to 1 tonne for cranes, hoists, elevators, platforms and industrial equipment.
Multiple weights arranged together to achieve the required total load, subject to availability and lifting plan.

Every quotation is scoped to the job — from the weights themselves through to transport, rigging and inspection support.

A Flexible Alternative to Solid Weights

Water bags are reinforced flexible bags designed to create a known test load when filled with water. They are particularly useful for high-capacity tests, marine and offshore work, limited-access locations and sites where transporting large quantities of solid weights would be difficult.
Because the bags are transported empty, mobilisation can be more efficient. Once connected to the approved lifting arrangement, water is added gradually while the load is monitored. After the test, the water is discharged at an approved location and the empty bags are removed.
Water bags may be suitable for
Confirm the equipment capacity, required test load, connection points, headroom, water supply, discharge location and approved test procedure.
Position the empty bag and connect it using the approved lifting and rigging arrangement. Inspect the bag, harness, fittings and accessories before filling.
Pump water into the bag in stages. Monitor the applied load using the agreed load-measuring arrangement until the required test load is achieved.
Operate or hold the equipment as required by the approved test procedure. Maintain the exclusion zone and continuously monitor the setup.
After completion, release the water in a controlled manner at the approved location. Disconnect, inspect and pack the empty bags for removal.
The load can be increased in controlled stages rather than applying the full test load at once.
Empty bags require less transport space than the equivalent quantity of solid test weights.
Multiple bags may be combined for larger loads when supported by the engineered test arrangement.
The water quantity can be adjusted until the target test load is reached.
Useful where heavy blocks are difficult to move, position or store.
After testing, water is discharged and the empty bags can be packed for transport.
Cranes, hoists, temporary platforms, lifting frames and project commissioning.
Plant lifting equipment, shutdown work, offshore structures and maintenance activities.
Cranes, davits, lifeboats, gangways and dockside lifting systems.
Overhead cranes, gantries, loading systems, lifting beams and industrial equipment.
Goods lifts, elevators, suspended access equipment and platform testing.
Support for planned proof-load tests, commissioning and verification programmes.
Send the equipment type, rated capacity, required test load, location, date and rental duration.
Crosshitch reviews whether hand weights, solid blocks, water bags or a combination is most suitable.
The quotation identifies the equipment, rental period, transport and any optional accessories or support.
Equipment is delivered and used under the client-approved test plan, site controls and lifting arrangement.
After completion, the equipment is collected or demobilised as agreed.
The more detail shared up front, the faster a suitable weight combination can be confirmed.
From 20 kg hand weights and 1-tonne test blocks to high-capacity water bag arrangements, Crosshitch can help identify a practical rental solution for your load-testing requirement. Send us the required test load, equipment details, project location and preferred date to receive a tailored quotation.
